Nine teams will play a Lego League focused on the future challenges facing citie

Andorra's secondary schools and denominational schools take part in the robotics competition on January 29th
The sixth Andorra Telecom Micro First Lego League this year will address the challenges of large cities and sustainable, accessible and innovative construction. The robots from the nine teams participating in the championship will be asked to perform missions related to the design of more humane cities based on innovation, safety, sustainability and precision.

The local test for this championship, to be held on January 29th at the Congress Centre, will involve six schools: the three Andorran secondary schools and the Janer, Sant Ermengol and Sagrada Familia schools. A total of 106 fourth-year students have to design, build and programme a robot to carry out their chosen missions.

Andorra Telecom spokesman Carles Casadevall believes this is a competition that’s interesting for everyone, not only for teachers, students and their families, and has encouraged all to attend. ‘Between three and five in the afternoon there will be presentations of the science and value projects. And at five o'clock in the afternoon the doors will open to the public for the robot competition, which generates a lot of interest’.

Andorra Telecom's spokesman has also highlighted the values that this international competition, promoted by the Scentia Foundation, transmits. Because "it not only promotes an interest in scientific disciplines and teamwork among children and young people, but also generates awareness of the major challenges facing the world, such as sustainability’

The referees in this edition will be four professionals from Andorra Telecom: Marta Ramírez, Andreu Isal, Pablo Feliu and Carolina Castellanos, while the judges will be from outside. The students' science projects were assessed by engineer Jordi Llovera and architect Beti Faura, two professionals with a career focused on sustainability. Regarding the values projects, the presence of the Secretary of State for Equality and Citizen Participation, Marc Pons, and rally driver Albert Llovera has been confirmed.

Andorra Telecom supports the promotion of robotics and innovation among children and adolescents in the country by means of the Micro First Lego League competitions, which bring together teams from different schools, and the WRO, which brings robotics clubs together.
