El NIU joins Google Startup Grind
The first session will take place on 16 May at 7 pm at the Congress Centre
On Monday, the Andorra Innovation Space hosted the presentation of the first event in the country organised by Startup Grind, the world’s largest community of entrepreneurs and the only member of the Google for Entrepreneurs community.
This first session will include the collaboration of Andorra Telecom’s NIU, Vall Banc and Actua, and will take place on 16 May. It will consist of a presentation in the form of an interview led by the Minister of Economy, Innovation and Competitiveness, Gilbert Saboya. Under the title “Open Innovation in Andorra: Our Partnership with MIT Media Lab”, Saboya will explain the innovation projects being developed in the country and the work being done together with the ActuaTech Foundation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The event will take place at 7 pm at the Congress Centre in Andorra la Vella. It will be in English, and can be followed live at https://www.startupgrind.com.
During the presentation, Ferran Martínez, Director of Startup Grind Andorra, noted that the event was created with “the goal of making Andorra known in the international world of entrepreneurs and to export our country’s talent.” In addition, Alex Rodríguez, regional director of Startup Grind Andorra, showed interest in “becoming an international partner for entrepreneurial initiatives in Andorra.”
A community of entrepreneurs in 125 countries
Startup Grind is present in 365 cities in 125 countries, where monthly events are held including interviews with entrepreneurs, investors and opinion leaders. Startup Grind’s mission is to help them through three values: “Make friends, not contacts; help others before helping yourself; give before you take”. The conferences are generally followed by thousands of individuals, and have been held in Silicon Valley, London, Mexico City, Barcelona, Los Angeles and Toronto. Notable recent interviews have included Casey Fenton (founder of Couchsurfing), Anne Driscoll (CMO of Startup Genome), Chris Schultz (CEO of Launchpad), Howard Love (business angel) and Michael Eckhardt (co-author of the book Crossing the Chasm).
