Andorra Telecom awards SMS numbers to social entities to raise funds
On Monday, Inés Martí, from Andorra Telecom’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) area, presented the Social SMS initiative, designed to support entities and NGOs working within the social field.
Andorra Telecom provides social entities with three-digit telephone numbers to raise funds for projects of a civic nature. The amounts raised by all the SMS messages sent to the number in question will be fully assigned to the beneficiary entity, without any associated costs. Andorra Telecom has allocated the range of numbers between 601 and 609 to this initiative.
All non-profit social entities duly registered with the Government can apply for the social SMS. The entities must focus their activity on collectives at risk of social exclusion and on initiatives designed to create a better, fairer and more caring society.
Inés Martí, who was accompanied at the presentation to the media by representatives of different associations, wished to emphasise that the company’s aim is to provide technological tools to enable those interested in contributing to the financing of a specific project to do so in a simple and streamlined manner, without the entity in question having to incur any extra cost.
“The SMS is an accessible and rapid way of conveying the Andorran population’s sense of solidarity. In addition, in this particular case, the amount does not go towards generically financing a company; instead, it is assigned to a tangible and specific project to be conducted in our territory,” she declared.
Applications will be accepted until 29 September 2017. They must include information on the applicant and the represented entity, the basic characteristics of the project requiring funding and the schedule for the initiatives to be conducted.
The company’s CSR committee will study, evaluate and select the numbers from among the applications received upon the basis of the following criteria: relevance, impact, viability, efficiency and effectiveness of the project submitted. The results will be published on this website throughout October.
