The video gaming party opens its doors with virtual reality as the major attraction

The Minister of Territorial Planning, the Deputy Mayor of Escaldes and the Director of Andorra Telecom kick off the event
From today until Sunday, Prat del Roure will be welcoming the latest video gaming party, Andorra Telecom's annual date with electronic games fans and the family audience. Minister of Territorial Planning and President of the Board of Directors of Andorra Telecom, Jordi Torres, the Deputy Mayor of Escaldes-Engordany, Joaquim Dolsa, the Rector of the University of Andorra, Miquel Nicolau, and the director of the company, Jordi Nadal, were in charge of opening the event for the many children who were waiting eagerly for the doors to open.

And they were the first to be able to try out one of the show’s main attractions - the five virtual reality activities. Also aimed at a wide audience were the spectacular vehicle simulators, which allow four people to compete simultaneously, as well as the music and dance performance activities.

For lovers of traditional gaming, the event offers a record number of 146 playing positions and incorporates time trackers to avoid long periods of non-stop play by children and ensure turnaround on the most popular games.

The event has also chosen to go for the novelty of face to face competitions, which started off with the Fortnite Mobile at midday, and will close at 5 p.m on Sunday with the mobile Clash Royale.

Some aspects are the result of collaboration with other companies. SE Robotics will be filling the Innovation Zone with drones and robotic vehicles, and Black Shark will be supplying all the devices for the new Mobile Zone, with state-of-the-art terminals designed for gamers. Nacon, who specialise in gaming accessories, will also be there.

Jordi Torres has always highlighted the family-friendly nature of the event: 'It's a very interactive and entertaining event, where the whole family can enjoy new experiences related to new technologies'

For his part, Jordi Nadal, stressed that the event has 'followed the technological evolution of gaming', and that you can find 'every platform' there is at this event. And highlighting this aspect of the gathering, Nadal has stressed that the company has opted for face-to-face tournaments so that the players 'can see each other'.

In this respect, Joaquim Dolsa, said that the event makes it possible to overcome the individualism and the isolation that video games represent, and he was very pleased that Escaldes-Engordany has chosen to embrace the idea of this 'open, participative family space’.

The event will be open until 9 p.m on Friday. Opening hours on Saturday will be from 11 a.m to 9 p.m, and on Sunday from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. Although the actual opening is this Friday, activities started last week with a course on video games in which 34 students took part - computer science students at Ud'A, micro-computing students and vocational training networks at Aixovall. This training, which is part of the collaboration between Andorra Telecom and the University, finished with a video game design workshop.
